Three groups of youngsters from Gwynedd have been busy supporting Wales Air Ambulance through various fundraising events in the run-up to Christmas.

Pupils from Bontnewydd Primary School, Brynaerau Primary School, and youngsters Ruby-Jo, Lexie and Pheobe have collectively raised over £2,500 for the helicopter charity.

Staff and pupils at Bontnewydd Primary kindly donated £210 to Wales Air Ambulance following a thanksgiving service held in October 2018.

However, Brynaerau primary set themselves a more physical challenge in the form of tackling the ‘three peaks’. Staff and Children from the youngest year groups climbed the hill near Caernarfon airport whilst the older pupils scaled ‘Tre Ceiri’ near Trefor and the summit of Snowdon, collectively raising £2,532.94 for the helicopter charity.

Youngsters Ruby-Jo, Lexie and Pheobe decided to let their entrepreneurial spark shine by taking to the streets of Bangor to sell unwanted toys and books, raising an impressive £40.70.

Wales Air Ambulance Community coordinator Alwyn Jones said: “It’s great to see people engaging with the charity at such a young age. Every donation made to Wales Air Ambulance makes a difference and the grand total of £2,782.70 raised by the wonderful young people of Caernarfon and Bangor will help us continue our lifesaving work across Wales.

“We are always happy to come out and talk to schools and groups about our work and spread the good word of Wales Air Ambulance. Anyone interested in finding out more should get in touch with us directly.”

Wales Air Ambulance covers the whole of Wales every single day. Each year the four helicopters attend around 2,500 missions ranging from rural countryside to bustling towns and cities. Wales Air Ambulance can be there for anyone in Wales within 20 minutes, flying the A&E directly to the patient.
