The Royal Oakley Silver Band has once again raised an incredible amount for the Wales Air Ambulance.

The popular fundraising event was a sellout and raised £2,500 for the all-Wales cause.

The Royal Oakley Silver Band has supported the Wales Air Ambulance for many years, with a variety of different fundraising concerts. This year’s concert’s main sponsor was Abererch Sands Holiday Centre.

The air ambulance service in Wales is delivered via a unique Third Sector and Public Sector partnership. The Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS) supplies highly skilled NHS consultants and critical care practitioners who work on board the Charity’s vehicles.

Wales Air Ambulance is consultant-led, taking hospital-standard treatments to the patient and, if required, transferring them directly to the most appropriate hospital for their illness or injury. For the patient, this can mean hours saved when compared to standard care and is proven to greatly improve survival and early recovery.

Members of the choir visited the Charity’s Caernarfon base, where they presented the Charity’s medics with the cheque of £2,500. Also present was Keith Dunne, managing director of Abererch Sands Holiday Centre and the main sponsor of the fundraiser.

The Wales Air Ambulance needs to raise £11.2 million pounds every year to keep its helicopters in the air and its rapid response vehicles on the road.

Kate Thomas, Wales Air Ambulance Regional Fundraising Manager said: “Thank you to Royal Oakley Silver Band for it’s continued support of our lifesaving Charity, you’ve raised an incredible amount for our cause. Thanks also goes to the sponsors and supporters for helping raise the much-needed funds.

“The Charity needs to raise £11.2 million every year to enable us to provide a 24 hour service, seven days a week throughout Wales. Donations, like this one, will help us to ensure that the people of Wales have the best care when they need it most.”
